Here at Alpharetta Elementary, we have developed a set of behavioral expectations for students in all common areas throughout the building. For the past two years, Alpharetta’s PBIS team has worked diligently to develop a mission, matrix, and reward system which all support clear expectations and rules for students within the building. This framework also has been set up to recognize those students who meet those expectations regularly.
Our PBIS initiative is “S.OA.R.”. As a school, we will work together to explicitly teach students the expectations of: Being Safe, Taking Ownership, Remaining Attentive, and Being Responsible.
Students will earn SOAR "Bucks" when they are recognized for following the SOAR Matrix. They can use their "Bucks" to purchase items at the SOAR store throughout the school year.
Students that DO NOT follow the SOAR expectations consistently, will earn a SOAR reminder. This will be filled out by a teacher or staff member with an explanation of the offense. Parents should discuss the behavior with their child, then sign and return the SOAR reminder to their homeroom teacher. Once a child earns 3 SOAR reminders, they will receive an office referral for administrative intervention. Since we have some fabulous rising 5th graders, we are confident that we will not be filling out any of these this year.
